PROPOSED SYSTEMS
Proposed Energy Systems
Maximum Delivery Engines (MDE) are being developed around three primary energy configurations. These are development-stage concepts and are not yet commercially available.
PROPOSED ENERGY SYSTEMS
Heat and power, or power alone.
The MDE patent describes the external-combustion architecture underlying the company’s proposed energy systems.
Combined Heat and Power (CHP) configurations are designed to provide electricity and useful recovered heat. The power-focused configuration emphasizes electricity generation. Each uses an external heat source; the engine is not an internal-combustion engine.
PROPOSED CONFIGURATION
Combined Heat and Power (CHP) — Solar + Fuel
The proposed system would accept concentrated solar thermal energy when useful sunlight is available and combusted-fuel heat at night, during clouds, or when additional heat input is required.
Potential outputs
Electricity and useful recovered heat, with third-party battery/inverter compatibility where appropriate.
Potential applications
Homes, small businesses, farms, workshops, cabins, off-grid or semi-rural properties, and other locations able to use both electricity and useful heat.
PROPOSED CONFIGURATION
Combined Heat and Power (CHP) — Fuel
The external-combustion architecture does not fundamentally require solar heat. A fuel-fired heat source can supply the hot side directly, allowing installations where a solar concentrator is undesirable, impractical, or unnecessary to be considered.
Potential outputs
Electricity and useful recovered heat, with dispatchable operation independent of sunlight and battery/inverter compatibility where appropriate.
Potential applications
Homes, small businesses, farms, workshops, cabins, remote/off-grid properties, and locations where solar collection is impractical or unnecessary.
PROPOSED CONFIGURATION
Power — Combusted Fuel
The proposed power-focused configuration would use an external fuel-fired heat source for electricity generation. Suitable fuels may include propane and other combustible fuels, depending on the final configuration.
A quieter operating profile is a development goal. Noise and vibration require measurement on the completed system.
Fuel-fired operation does not depend on sunlight, allowing dispatchable generation day or night.
Potential outputs
Electricity generation, with useful heat recovery not the primary objective and third-party battery/inverter integration where appropriate.
Potential applications
recreational vehicles (RVs), travel trailers, cabins, remote/off-grid sites, backup power, portable or stationary generator applications, and nighttime generation.
ENERGY UTILIZATION
Useful heat recovery and combustion research.
High fuel utilization and controlled external combustion are design goals. Efficiency and emissions comparisons require measured results. CHP configurations could improve total energy utilization by recovering useful heat that would otherwise be rejected.
EDUCATION & DEMONSTRATION
Education & Demonstration
Educational Maximum Delivery Engine — 5–10 cubic centimeters
This active development platform is intended primarily for teachers, students, schools, universities, and hot-air engine enthusiasts.
Secondary audiences include science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) programs, engineering laboratories, technical and vocational education, maker communities, model-engine enthusiasts, and science demonstrations.
It is separate from the three proposed energy-system configurations and is not yet commercially available.
