Developing the Next Stage of Heat-Driven Power

Maximum Delivery Engines (MDE) are advancing through engineering development across multiple scales and heat-source configurations, supported by active engineering and a long development record.

CURRENT ENGINEERING

A Practical Path to Hardware Validation

Maximum Delivery Engines is evaluating multiple MDE configurations and scales to determine the most practical path to physical prototype validation.

MDE designs undergo analytical and computational evaluation before physical prototype fabrication, followed by instrumented hardware testing.

Prototype configuration and sequencing will be selected based on engineering results, fabrication practicality, and development priorities.

DEVELOPMENT PLATFORM

One Architecture. Multiple Scales.

The broader program spans mobile and recreational vehicle (RV) power, residential and small-business energy, passenger-car hybrid generation, larger stationary generators, and educational 5–10 cubic centimeter engines. Analytical and computational work is underway; measured hardware results remain to be established.

BROADER OPPORTUNITY

A larger application range under investigation.

Recent thermodynamic calculations indicate greater ideal power potential for pressurized MDE configurations than previously anticipated. This has expanded the applications under investigation to passenger-car hybrid generation and larger generators.

The passenger-car concept is a series hybrid: the MDE would drive a generator, with electric motors driving the wheels and a small traction battery supporting immediate driving, acceleration, and passing. This vehicle concept is an opportunity for further study as engine development progresses.

Double-acting pistons use both working faces. Heat-transfer improvements are being investigated while controlling inactive gas volume. These concepts do not yet establish net output or commercial feasibility.

VALIDATION

What Prototype Testing Must Answer

Prototype testing is intended to replace design assumptions with measured data and establish the basis for assessing practical performance.

  • Actual mechanical and electrical output, thermal efficiency, and heat-transfer performance.
  • Pressure and mechanical losses, cooling requirements, and the operating envelope.
  • Noise and vibration, seal and bearing behavior, and durability.
  • Manufacturing cost and assembly complexity, supported by manufacturing analysis.

DEVELOPMENT EVIDENCE

A Long Development Record

The record begins with the earliest surviving geometry sketch in 2008 and a Partial Proof of Concept in 2010. March 2024 brought the common-space and midpoint thermal communication milestone, with further architecture maturation in 2024.

The United States nonprovisional application was filed March 25, 2025, and the United States patent issued June 9, 2026. The historical model evidence does not establish current platform performance.

MARKET POSITION

Why the Opportunity Matters

Proposed systems include Combined Heat and Power (CHP) using solar plus combusted-fuel heat, CHP using combusted-fuel heat alone, and power-focused combusted-fuel generation. All three would use the same fundamental external-combustion architecture.

Explore proposed energy systems

Compatibility with third-party batteries and inverters could support variable demand. Integration and heat recovery also require validation.

Potential advantages in noise, fuel utilization, and emissions require measured comparisons with existing systems.

DEVELOPMENT STATUS

Pre-Commercial Development

Maximum Delivery Engines remains in engineering and pre-commercial development.

Prototype and full-size performance, durability, production cost, certification requirements, and commercial economics remain to be established through testing and manufacturing analysis.

COLLABORATION
